Our Story

Producing and selling pimento cheese was never part of my retirement plan.

After 35 years in the classroom, I knew I needed something to keep me busy — but I never imagined it would begin on a sunny afternoon sitting on the beach with a good friend. Somewhere between the sound of the waves and easy conversation, the idea for Martha’s Menna Cheese was born.

I had been making pimento cheese for years. The recipe was handed down to me from my mother-in-law — a treasured family tradition that had become a staple in our home. I made it for gatherings, gifted it to friends and family, and brought it to just about every occasion. Every time, I heard the same thing: “You should be selling this.”

With a little encouragement, I decided to take a chance and bring it to our local Farmers Markets — and I haven’t looked back since. What began as a simple idea quickly became a new chapter filled with community, conversation, and connection.

Along the way, I found myself learning more about the rich agricultural heritage of South Carolina. Selling at farmers' markets introduced me to the hardworking local farmers and producers who pour their hearts into what they grow.

As Martha’s Menna Cheese grew, it found its way into local produce stands, allowing me to help promote and support South Carolina agriculture. Martha’s Menna Cheese is proud to be a Certified South Carolina Product, and I am truly honored to be part of that community.

Martha’s Menna Cheese isn’t just pimento cheese. It’s tradition. It’s family. It’s a little taste of home.

Whether you’re spreading it on crackers, layering it on a sandwich, or serving it at your next gathering, my hope is that every bite feels like something made in a family kitchen.

Look for Martha’s Menna Cheese in one of the 18 specialty stores and produce stands across our beautiful state of South Carolina, order online to have it shipped straight to your door, place an order to pick up in the kitchen, or catch me at a farmers' market sometime soon. However you find it, I can’t wait for you to enjoy a true taste of tradition.
